“No way Norway.”
That’s the response Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie had after a song was released calling for a Moose Truce.
Norwegian bands Ganic and Vimarida put the song out earlier this week.
It stems from the ongoing moose war between Moose Jaw and Storelgen over having the world’s largest moose statue.
Tolmie said it’s not going to deter them from trying to get Mac the Moose his crown back.
“It’s about winning, you don’t remember who came second,” Tolmie said. “We haven’t done anything except raise money and they’re backing down.”
He said the deputy mayor of the Norwegian town will be coming to Moose Jaw to discuss things.
“In a truce, there’s always a winner and that’s going to be the City of Moose Jaw, the province of Saskatchewan, the Canadian people, we’re going to win this.”
He said the engineers are looking at how they can increase Mac’s size in a way that can withstand the major temperature swings Saskatchewan sees throughout the year.
“We’ve got to make sure that we can do this, and if not we need to think of an alternate plan.”
And the music battle isn’t over in this great moose war.
Tolmie said they will be releasing their own song as early as Friday night.
