Saskatchewan’s health minister says legislation will likely be tabled this fall for vaping and e-cigarettes.
Jim Reiter told reporters in Saskatoon on Wednesday the ministry has been consulting with stakeholders over the summer on tougher regulations for vaping products.
Reiter said recent respiratory illnesses in the U.S. being linked to vaping is cause for concern for health officials across the country.
“It’s a cause of concern for me,” he said. “I walk into a convenience store now and I see it advertised more than any other product.
“When there are flavours like popcorn and bubble gum … that’s targeted to children, I would say.”
Reiter said there is a “pretty good” chance legislation will be introduced this fall, but the final draft is still being tweaked.
