The WHL season drops the puck tonight.
What a great couple of seasons it has been in Saskatchewan fan bases.
In 2017, the Regina Pats got all the way to the final. In 2018, the Memorial Cup was in Regina and the Swift Current Broncos took the WHL crown.
And of course, the Prince Albert Raiders enter this season as the defending league champions.
However, it’s the Saskatoon Blades who have a lot of eyes on them with their rise in the standings and ending a long playoff drought last season.
If Kirby Dach comes back from the Chicago Blackhawks, the Blades chances increase.
Saskatoon had double, maybe triple the average attendance it usually gets as it was nice to see SaskTel Centre buzzing about the Blades again.
They have one of the top goaltenders in the game, so anything can happen with a strong netminder.
With Swift Current, Regina and Moose Jaw rebuilding and the Raiders losing some major pieces to their championship puzzle, the Blades are the team to watch this year.
