A three-goal first period got the Regina Pats off to a good start Tuesday.
But things didn’t end well for the Pats, who surrendered five unanswered goals to the Edmonton Oil Kings en route to a 5-3 WHL loss at the Brandt Centre.
The defeat was Regina’s seventh in a row and dropped its record to 1-7-0-0.
Kyle Walker, Robbie Holmes and Austin Pratt scored in the first period for the Pats, who outshot the visitors 11-7 in the opening frame.
But Edmonton turned things around over the next two periods, outshooting the Pats 16-5 in the second period and 16-2 in the third.
After Liam Keeler and Jalen Luypen scored in the middle frame for the Oil Kings, Vladimir Alistrov, Ethan McIndoe and Dylan Guenther sniped in the third.
Sebastian Cossa made eight saves in the first period for Edmonton (5-1-2-0). He was replaced to start the second by Todd Scott, who stopped all seven shots he faced over the final 40 minutes.
Max Paddock recorded 34 saves in the Pats’ net.
Regina is to return to action Saturday, when the Vancouver Giants are to visit the Brandt Centre.
