Oliver Okuliar had two goals and an assist Sunday as the Lethbridge Hurricanes downed the Regina Pats 5-4 in WHL action at the Brandt Centre.
The loss was the Pats’ ninth in a row after they opened the regular season with a 3-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sept. 20.
Okuliar’s second goal of the game, a short-handed tally at 9:17 of the second period, stood up as the winner for Lethbridge (4-4-0-1). Ty Prefontaine, Dylan Cozens and Ty Nash also scored for the Hurricanes.
Logan Nijhoff, Austin Pratt, Cole Dubinsky and Ty Kolle had goals for the Pats, who scored three times on the power play.
Bryan Thomson made 22 saves in the Hurricanes’ net.
Matthew Kieper started for the Pats and allowed five goals on 13 shots. Danton Belluk replaced Kieper at 9:17 of the second period and stopped all 11 shots he faced.
The Pats are to visit Lethbridge on Friday.
