The Saskatchewan Roughriders enter this weekend’s game with Edmonton in a unique position.
The team has to focus on being sound while winning at all costs. Saskatchewan didn’t play textbook football in a win over B.C. last weekend, and during the Thanksgiving weekend, the team was very undisciplined in losing to Calgary.
The fans know it, the coaches know it, and the players know it. If the team doesn’t play better there will be no Grey Cup appearance, let alone a Grey Cup victory.
Secondly, there needs to be some urgency to Saskatchewan’s game. The Eskimos are likely going to be the crossover team from the west, while Saskatchewan still has a shot at hosting a playoff game, and even has a shot at getting a first-round bye.
Getting into form, and playing for a chance to get to the West Division final, should be enough to push the Riders over the top at Commonwealth Stadium this weekend.
Riders 31, Edmonton 20.
