Rebels work overtime to edge Pats

Arshdeep Bains scored 48 seconds into overtime Sunday to help the Red Deer Rebels defeat the Regina Pats 3-2 in WHL action at the Brandt Centre.
After a scoreless first period, Red Deer’s Chase Leslie and Zack Smith of the Pats traded goals in the second.
Josh Tarzwell gave Red Deer a 2-1 lead with 1:23 left in the third period, but Regina captain Austin Pratt tied the contest with 41 seconds remaining in regulation time.
Bains’ second goal of the season, scored on the first shot of overtime, ended matters.
Byron Fancy stopped 25 shots for Red Deer (5-8-0-2). Max Paddock made 24 saves for the Pats (2-11-2-0).
The Pats are idle until Friday, when they’re to play host to the Swift Current Broncos. Game time at the Brandt Centre is set for 7 p.m.
