Regina drivers got a wet start to their Monday morning, with showers falling on the city and the temperature above freezing at 3 C.
Environment Canada meteorologist Brian Luzny said it’s part of a week of weather that should reflect seasonal trends in the Queen City.
“For the rest of the week in terms of temperature, it’s going to be pretty seasonal for Regina with highs in the low-single digits below zero,” he said.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, the weather agency predicted highs every weekday to be -6 C or warmer, with the warmest day set to be Friday at 0 C.
It also predicted sunny skies for Thursday through Sunday.
Tuesday’s forecast is calling for a 60 per cent chance of light snow.
Changing types of precipitation throughout one day is normal during the fall-to-winter transition period, according to Luzny.
“It is somewhat normal to expect mixed precipitation, (with) showers changing to flurries in the evenings. (And there are) chances of some frozen precipitation this time of year,” he said.
Luzny predicted Regina should get about five to 10 centimetres (or two to five inches) of snow on Tuesday.
During transition-type weather between fall and winter, Luzny suggested people wear jackets with some thickness and water-repellent aspect to them, along with the functionality to block the wind.
