Max Paddock made 45 saves Saturday as the WHL’s Regina Pats beat the host Red Deer Rebels 4-3.
The Pats led 3-2 after the first period despite being outshot 18-6 in the frame. Red Deer had a 17-16 advantage in shots on goal in the second period, but still trailed 4-2 after 40 minutes.
Paddock then made the lead stand up in the third, in which the Pats were outshot 13-2.
Chase Coward started for the Rebels, but was pulled after allowing three goals on six shots in the first period. Byron Fancy went the rest of the way and recorded 17 saves.
Ty Kolle scored two goals for Regina, which got singles from Carson Denomie and Robbie Holmes. Ethan Sakowich, Chris Douglas and Cameron Hausinger replied for the Rebels.
Regina improved to 6-16-2-0 while snapping a two-game losing streak. Red Deer dropped to 7-15-0-3.
The Pats are to wrap up a stretch of three games in three days Sunday, when they’re to visit the Edmonton Oil Kings.
