The Regina Police Service is saying it now has enough evidence to lay first-degree murder charges against two men, stemming from a December 2017 incident that left a 35-year-old man dead.
The two men, 27-year-old Nayo Fox and 30-year-old Timothy Louison, stand accused of first-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Thurston Mintuck. The two accused, each from Regina, are also charged with attempted murder and possessing stolen property over $5,000.
In an emailed media release, the police service described the incident that happened on Dec. 3, 2017.
At about 2:45 a.m. that day, service members found an injured Mintuck in the 1200 block of Retallack Street.
Mintuck was taken to hospital where he later died.
As forensic and major crimes unit members investigated the scene, they recorded the incident as a murder, the ninth one of the year. They also found another 35-year-old man, whom they determined “was the victim of attempted murder in the same event,” the media release said.
The police service said as its members continued investigating, they discovered enough evidence to lay the charges.
Service member arrested Fox and Louison on Friday.
They made their first court appearances in provincial court Monday morning. Their cases were adjourned to Jan. 9.
