The Walmart in north Regina is set to reopen Tuesday morning.
The store was closed for more than a month following a fire in its paper towel section on Dec. 10. A 12-year-old boy has since been charged with arson in connection.
“It’s been a big undertaking,” Felicia Fefer, Walmart’s manager of corporate affairs, said in an email Monday afternoon.
“From clean up to restocking the shelves with new inventory, our teams have been working very hard to get the store ready to reopen as soon as possible.”
In the wake of the fire, Walmart donated 36,000 pounds of non-perishable food to the Regina Food Bank and sales associates were transferred to other store locations in the interim.
Although the store won’t be fully stocked with new inventory by the time it’s scheduled to reopen Tuesday, Fefer noted shipments are expected in the days and weeks ahead.
