Former federal cabinet minister Peter MacKay officially kicked off his Conservative Party leadership bid on Saturday.
He sat down for a chat with Gormley guest host Drew Remenda on Monday.
One of the main topics of conversation was how MacKay could win against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the next federal election.
“Let’s bring about a thoughtful dialogue that isn’t based on personal attacks, or accusations and recriminations,” MacKay said.
“Let’s reorient the discussion towards a fact-based, respectful talk about how we get Canada on track again.”
He said it’s important to avoid personal attacks and drama, and instead focus on topics that matter.
“I’ll tell you one big issue that the country still has to come to grips with: How we move oil and gas across this country,” MacKay said.
