Several areas of Saskatchewan were hit hard by hail on Tuesday and some damage was caused.
Daryl Frank farms near Southey, which saw hail the size of golf balls.
“There’s definitely a lot of damage. I know some neighbours around here, their cars are all dented up, Their house had holes in it,” he explained.
His crops were also affected.
“Lots of crop flattened out, and water lying out in the fields,” Franks said.
He’s currently waiting for his agronomist’s evaluation, but he’s optimistic that he won’t be taking too much of a hit.
“Most of the crop is still so small that it should recover pretty well. We’re hoping there won’t be too much significant damage that will stick around for the year,” he said. “It will delay the crop a little.”
Plus, Franks was able to find some good in the situation. He said it’s always good to get some rain at this point in the season.
“Things are definitely dry, so any rain we get will help. It’s just that it came in the wrong form.”
