Two new COVID-19 cases, nine more recoveries in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan reported two new cases of COVID-19 and nine more recoveries on Wednesday.

The new cases — one in the north and one in the Saskatoon region — increased the provincial total to date to 808.

The number of recoveries now stands at 746. To date, 15 residents of the province have died due to complications from the virus.

There now are 47 active cases in the province, with 28 in the far north, eight in the north, five in the south, five in the Saskatoon area, and one in central Saskatchewan. There aren’t any active cases being reported in the Regina area.

Three people — two in the north and one in Saskatoon — are receiving inpatient care in hospital. There aren’t any cases in intensive care units in Saskatchewan.

Of the total number of cases, 483 are community contacts, 168 are travellers, 113 don’t have any known exposures, and 44 are being investigated by local public health officials.

To date, 55 health-care workers in the province have been diagnosed with the virus.

There have been 338 cases in the far north, 191 from the Saskatoon area, 120 in the north, 80 from the Regina area, 66 in the south and 13 from the central region.

Of the total, 284 cases are in the 20-to-39 age range, 253 are between 40 and 59, 133 are in the 60-to-79 range, 117 involve people 19 and under, and 21 are in the 80-and-over range.

There were 581 new tests reported Wednesday, increasing the province’s total to date to 70,875.
