The Stanley Mission RCMP is on the lookout for a black bear that got into a house in the town Sunday night.
At about 9:30 p.m., the RCMP got a call that a bear had pushed out a portable air conditioner and entered the home.
One of the residents suffered injuries while escaping from the home after the bear got in.
When the Mounties arrived, they were told by local security officials that the bear had left the house and had run into the woods.
RCMP officers saw the bear behind the house but, as they approached, the animal ran further from town.
Conservation officers set up a bear trap near where the bear was last seen.
The RCMP and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment are asking residents in the area to exercise caution and to contact a conservation officer or the police if they see any bear activity in or near the town.
The ministry also is reminding residents to be aware of what they’re putting in their garbage or around their properties since those items may attract bears.
