"Just because you're from a small town doesn't mean you can't go far."
A 24-year-old Regina woman has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of her 18-month-old son in the city in June.
In a media release Wednesday, the Regina Police Service said Chelsea Rae Whitby had been arrested Tuesday in southern Manitoba.
She’s to make her first court appearance Thursday morning.
On June 10 at about 10:15 a.m., police and other first responders were sent to a house in the 3200 block of Arens Road for a report of an injured child. The boy was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the police started an investigation into the child’s death and, on July 15, deemed it to be a homicide — the eighth in Regina in 2020.
