Chadwick Boseman’s career was filled with blockbuster roles as Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall.
One role that stands out to many is Boseman’s interpretation of the Black Panther in the Marvel Universe.
Quentin Nordick, the owner of 8th Street Books and Comics, has high praise for the superhero star.
“Boseman was great as the Black Panther. As far as it goes, he was the best person I could see in that role,” said Nordick. “You can’t replace an actor that really truly loved his role.
“He was perfect for all his roles. I would have loved to see him in another film.”
Nordick added that since Boseman’s passing Friday, there has been a big surge in people requesting Black Panther comics, action figures, and other goods recognizing the 43-year-old star’s death.
“A lot of people look up to him,” Nordick said.
Jody Cason, events co-ordinator at Amazing Stories, spoke about the cultural reach Boseman had as an actor.
“His influence and role in the Black community was huge,” said Cason. “He’s an icon, a role model.
“A lot more people see the movies rather than read the comics. For all the millions of fans that have been wrapped up in the adventures of the Marvel Universe, this is huge. It’s like losing someone in your family.”
Boseman passed away Friday after battling colon cancer for the last four years.
The final tweet on his Twitter account is the most-liked tweet, ever.
