Another Saskatchewan resident has been fined for violating Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 public health orders.
In its update Thursday, the provincial government said an individual had been fined $2,000 after a contact investigation by public health officials determined the person hadn’t self-isolated when symptomatic.
The media release didn’t include any other details about the person, including their hometown or age.
It’s the second fine levied by the government in the span of a week, following the financial penalty handed Sept. 17 to the organizer of a Saskatoon event that led to an outbreak.
The province also reported five new cases and eight more recoveries in Thursday’s release.
Two of the new cases are in the Saskatoon region, with one each in the Regina, central-west and south-central areas.
Saskatchewan has now had 1,835 reported cases of COVID-19.
The eight recoveries increased that number so far to 1,681. To date, 24 residents of the province have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
There are 130 active cases being reported.
Eight people are receiving inpatient care in hospital, with seven of those in Saskatoon and one in the south-central zone.
So far in Saskatchewan, there have been 440 cases in the south area (222 southwest, 200 south-central, 18 southeast), 363 in the Saskatoon region, 358 from the far north (349 far northwest, nine far northeast), 271 from the north zone (131 northwest, 73 north-central, 67 northeast), 237 from the central area (175 central-west, 62 central-east) and 166 in the Regina region.
The total comprises 906 community contacts, 533 cases where there wasn’t a known exposure, 277 travellers and 119 cases that remain under investigation by public health officials.
There have been 597 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 567 between the ages of 40 and 59, 308 involving people 19 and under, 301 from age 60 to 79, and 62 aged 80 and over.
The 1,578 tests done in Saskatchewan on Wednesday raised the province’s total to date to 178,490.
