18 recoveries, 11 new COVID cases reported in Sask.

Recoveries outnumbered new cases for a third straight day when the Saskatchewan government released its COVID-19 update Friday.

In a media release, the province reported 18 more recoveries and 11 new cases, lowering the number of active cases being reported to 123.

The new cases — three each in the north-central and Saskatoon areas, one apiece in the northwest, central-east, Regina and southeast zones and one currently without a known location — increased the province’s total to date to 1,846.

So far, 1,699 recoveries have been recorded. To date, 24 residents of the province have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

Eight people are receiving inpatient care in hospital, with seven in Saskatoon and one in the south-central zone.

There have been 441 cases from the south area (222 southwest, 200 south-central, 19 southeast), 366 in the Saskatoon region, 358 in the far north (349 far northwest, nine far northeast), 275 from the north (132 northwest, 76 north-central, 67 northeast), 238 in the central zone (175 central-west, 63 central-east) and 167 in the Regina region. The location of one case is pending.

The total comprises 919 community contacts, 533 cases without any known exposures, 278 travellers, and 116 cases that are being investigated by public health.

There have been 601 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 572 from age 40 to 59, 309 involving people 19 and under, 302 between the ages of 60 and 79, and 62 in the 80-and-over range.

There were 1,742 tests done Thursday, increasing the provincial total to date to 180,232.
