A 40-year-old Calgary man has been charged in connection with a recent string of robberies in Regina.
He was arrested Saturday evening after the Regina Police Service got a call about a robbery at a business in the 3900 block of Albert Street.
Officers were told a man entered the store, approached the cash register with some expensive items and then showed a gun and demanded cash. He left the store with the merchandise and got into a waiting vehicle.
Police got images of the vehicle as well as surveillance footage and other evidence that helped them identify the suspect.
Photos of the vehicle were distributed to other officers, who found it parked at a restaurant on Dewdney Avenue.
Officers watched as a woman drove the car north out of Regina behind a cab. Officers stopped both vehicles and arrested the man and the woman.
The man was charged in connection with the Albert Street robbery, as well as robberies Oct. 8 in the 2700 block of Montague Street and Sept. 16 in the 200 block of University Park Drive.
He faces three counts each of armed robbery and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (morphine, codeine), and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a scheduled substance (methamphetamine).
A 35-year-old woman from Saskatoon was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (hydromorphone, morphine, codeine) and one count each of armed robbery and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
