There will be a new way to watch hockey in Regina this winter.
Tim Reid, the president and CEO of Regina Exhibition Association Limited, says the Co-operators Centre on the grounds of Evraz Place will have a new video feature known as LiveBarn installed in the arena come November.
Reid says the streaming tool will allow more people to stay connected with local hockey without being in the arena.
“It’s a camera that you install on the ceiling and it follows the play,” Reid said during Wednesday’s Greg Morgan Morning Show.
“This high-definition camera essentially knows the game of hockey. You will be able to watch hockey on all six (ice) surfaces (or) old games, and there will also be tools for coaches to use.”
The installation of the service starts at the beginning of November and is expected to be fully running by the end of the month.
“Over 50 per cent of NHL teams use this same service,” Reid said. “This will be another way that people can be connected with local hockey without being in the arena.”
The American-made product will cost users less than $15 a month.
