Students at the University of Regina have been notified about a security breach involving a software program intended to prevent cheating on remote exams.
This week, the school sent an email to students saying Proctortrack was hacked on Tuesday.
The email states the company behind the program, Verificient Technologies, “has advised that no user data were exposed.”
As a precaution, Proctortrack is being shut down for seven to 10 days for a security review and forensic audit.
“U of R instructors with mid-terms/exams scheduled over this time period have been advised to make alternate arrangements for any exams that were slated to be remotely proctored,” the email says.
