All classes have been cancelled at Saskatchewan Polytechnic from Nov. 2 to 4 because of a cyberattack.
“The institute is taking this matter very seriously and is working closely with industry experts to minimize the extent of the impact,” the school says in a news release.
Currently, the school’s IT services are working to restore systems, with online learning being the first priority, it continues.
At this point, there is no reason to believe that personal information was compromised, the school says.
In an update provided late Monday afternoon, the school said Sask. Polytech systems (operating platforms and services) have been restored, including Outlook email and calendar, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Kaltura.
The school said it is continuing to work with external experts and law enforcement to determine the extent of the security incident and to safely restore the systems.
Employees have been told to install an “adaptive, next-generation antivirus and endpoint detection and response software.”
