A fire destroyed a grain elevator in Torquay early Wednesday morning.
According to fire chief Monica Kovach, the blaze started shortly after midnight.
“We’re not sure what started everything. We just got the call at 12:35 that the grain elevator in Torquay was on fire,” she said.
Kovach was expecting the cleanup to last a while.
“The elevator burned down and we’re still busy putting the embers out. It could be all day,” she said Wednesday morning.
According to eyewitness reports, the fire started sometime around midnight.
It was caught on video by Jason LeBlanc, whose video showed the building engulfed in flames, lighting up the night sky.
The Estevan Fire Department was on scene to help suppress the fire along with the Torquay Fire Department.
