The Regina fire department had a busy weekend, dousing a trio of house fires, but in each case, nobody was hurt.
The first broke out on Friday at about 5:30 p.m., when crews were called to a fully involved house fire at 1115 Garnet St. The house was vacant but deputy chief Neil Sundeen said neighbours reported seeing people inside the day before.
A few hours later at about 10:30 p.m., firefighters were called to 1175 Retallack St. Sundeen said the house was known to be occupied but was simply empty at the time. Some heat damage spread to a neighbouring house but the damage was not serious, he continued.
At 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, crews were sent to the third house fire at 1714 Quebec St. Sundeen said the house had been vacant for a while and, at one point, people had been spotted inside keeping warm.
