Construction was to begin Monday on two overpasses on the Trans-Canada Highway near Swift Current.
Regina-based Graham Construction was to start the $18-million project, which involves work on two overpasses over the CP Rail tracks about five kilometres east of Swift Current.
The existing overpass on the eastbound lanes is to be replaced, while the bridge supporting the westbound lanes is to be rehabilitated.
According to the Government of Saskatchewan, work on the westbound bridge was to begin Monday and is expected to be done by the end of June. Work then would begin on the eastbound overpass, with completion expected in the fall.
The government said drivers may experience minor delays, because when one bridge is under construction, traffic will cross over and share the other bridge. Wide loads will be detoured around the construction zone.
The bridges typically carry about 6,000 vehicles per day.
