Swift Current girl thrilled with haul from pop star Halsey

Remember the sweet seven-year-old from Swift Current who caught the eye of Halsey on TikTok and was awaiting a care package from the pop star?

On Tuesday, Bella Thomson got her gift in the mail.

The box was filled with art supplies, a new iPad and a handwritten card from Halsey.

Bella’s mom Kyla said her daughter couldn’t believe it.

“She was speechless. She was opening it all and her eyes were so wide,” Kyla said. “She is just blown away by the amount and what it is and, of course, the new iPad.”

Bella has struggled with health issues all her life and is currently waiting for a bowel transplant. Kyla has been posting updates and fun videos on TikTok and that’s where they first caught the eye of Halsey.

Their account now has more than 1.4 million followers and Kyla said so many people have been reaching out to them.

“People are just really touched by Bella’s story, what she has been through and how she is regardless of what she has been through, and how happy she is and how inspirational,” Kyla said.

Bella has to go back to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto in about a month for an MRI and all her appointments ahead of her upcoming bowel transplant. Kyla said Bella has been in really good spirits lately.

“Her tummy troubles are not as they were last year, and it’s consistently been really good for her,” Kyla said. “She’s not having a lot of pain during the day.

“She’s got a lot of energy (and) she’s happy to do her schoolwork. And I am just so thankful that every day she is feeling her best (medically) right now.”
