Mosaic Stadium could be going from hosting football games to hosting high school graduation ceremonies as well.
Regina Public Schools announced Friday it has a tentative plan worked out with Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) to hold grad ceremonies at the stadium in late June.
It’s one of the few venues in the city big enough to host students, while still being able to respect COVID-19 public health guidelines.
“It is our hope that each high school will celebrate their Grade 12 graduation at Mosaic Stadium,” the division’s statement reads.
The division said the plan is pending a provincial government guideline review and larger outdoor ceremonies being deemed safe.
Currently, guidelines limit outdoor graduation ceremonies to a maximum of 30 guests. However, those measures are expected to be re-evaluated May 17.
The division said it will be contacting students and parents over the coming days regarding specific dates and contingency plans for rain.
