The cheque is in the mail — or it will be shortly.
SGI announced Tuesday it’s starting to mail out around 709,000 rebate cheques to Saskatchewan residents this week, as was promised in February.
The Crown corporation is sharing around $285 million with the province’s drivers, who will receive on average about $380.
The plan is to send out all of the cheques over the next three weeks, which means people should be receiving their rebates between mid-May and mid-June.
Anyone who has not received their rebate by June 30 should call SGI’s Customer Service Centre at 1-844-855-2744.
“These rebates will provide a significant injection into the provincial economy, at a time when it will certainly be a welcome boost,” Minister Responsible for SGI Don Morgan said in a media release.
Some 1.74 million vehicles, motorcycles, trailers and snowmobiles registered between 2018 and 2020 qualify for the rebates. Cheques will be sent to any individuals, non-profit organizations and businesses that registered a vehicle in that time frame and met residency requirements to register a vehicle as of Feb. 26.
More to come.
