The Prairie Football Conference has confirmed its return to the field for the summer.
The PFC released its schedule Tuesday afternoon with a full season that will culminate with the Canadian Junior Football League’s Canadian Bowl played in December.
PFC teams didn’t play at all in 2020 due to COVID-19.
The Saskatoon Hilltops and Regina Thunder are to open their 2021 seasons on the road for the opening week on Aug. 22.
Regina will then host the Winnipeg Rifles at Leibel Field for Week 2 while the Hilltops won’t play in front of home fans at Saskatoon Minor Football Field until the Thunder comes to town after the first bye week on Sept. 11.
The second and final meeting between the two Saskatchewan teams will happen the following week on Sept. 19 when the Thunder returns to Mosaic Stadium.
Playoffs are to begin on Oct. 30 with the PFC final set for either Nov. 13 or Nov. 14.
The winner of that game will advance to the national semifinal to face the winner of the British Columbia Football Conference.
The team that wins that game will advance to the Canadian Bowl to face the representative from the Ontario Football Conference on Dec. 4.
