For the second time in less than a week, Saskatchewan has set a daily record for COVID-19 vaccinations.
The Ministry of Health said Thursday there were 24,971 doses of vaccine administered in the province in the latest reporting period. The previous record of 24,260 was set last Friday.
The latest vaccinations included 22,552 second doses, which also is a new single-day high. That increased the number of Saskatchewan residents who have received two doses to 334,515.
The province also reported 52 new cases of COVID and 55 recoveries. There weren’t any deaths due to the virus announced.
Vaccination update
To date, 1,048,669 COVID shots have been done in Saskatchewan.
The latest vaccinations were done in the Saskatoon (6,561), Regina (5,114), central-east (2,620), southeast (1,857), north-central (1,652), northeast (1,503), south-central (1,232), southwest (1,101), northwest (906), central-west (856), far northwest (530), far northeast (376) and far north-central (27) zones.
The hometowns of 636 recipients is pending.
As of Wednesday, 69 per cent of Saskatchewan residents aged 12 and up have received their first dose.
A look at the numbers
The seven-day average of new COVID cases fell to 55, the lowest it has been since it was that number on Oct. 26.
The latest new cases were in the Saskatoon (10), northwest (10), Regina (nine), north-central (seven), far northwest (four), central-east (four), southeast (three), central-west (two), far north-central (one) and far northeast (one) regions. One case is pending residence information.
Since last March, 48,590 cases of COVID have been reported in Saskatchewan.
There were 15 new cases of variants of concern announced, increasing that total so far to 12,035.
The active caseload fell by two to 605.
There are 76 COVID patients in Saskatchewan hospitals, with 62 receiving inpatient care and 14 in intensive care. The ICU cases are located in the Regina (five), Saskatoon (five), northwest (two) and north-central (two) zones.
The 1,834 COVID tests processed in Saskatchewan on Wednesday increased the provincial total to date to 907,701.
