A tornado warning for an area northwest of Moose Jaw has ended.
Just before 7 p.m., Environment Canada issued the warning for the R.M. of Eyebrow, including Eyebrow and Brownlee. Just before 8 p.m., the alert was lifted.
However, a severe thunderstorm watch for the area remained in place.
“Ahead of a large impulse crossing over southern Alberta early this evening, conditions in southern Saskatchewan are favourable for several discrete supercells to form,” the weather service said. “Hazards associated with these storms will primarily be large hail and strong winds, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
“As this impulse travels eastward into the late evening hours, conditions will enhance for more large scale development and conditions will become more favourable for thunderstorms to combine into a complex. The hazards at this time will be more focused towards strong winds, large hail, and rain totals.”
There also were severe thunderstorm watches in place for a number of areas in the south and southwest portion of the province.
Heat warnings also were in effect for a number of regions in the north and far north.
