The Regina Pats have broken the ice by announcing they have signed 2020 CHL import selection Stanislav Svozil to a contract.
The 18-year old defenceman was chosed 15th overall by the Pats in the 2020 CHL Import Draft.
In a release, Pats VP of Hockey Operations and General Manager John Paddock said, “We are very pleased to announce the signing of Stanislav Svozil. We feel we’re adding a really good player: someone who has already played at the World Junior Championships, is already drafted and has signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
“We’re excited to add him to our lineup.”
Svozil represented the Czech Republic at several international tournaments, including the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships, the 2021 IIHF Under 18 World Championships, the 2019 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge.
The Pats will begin training camp on Sept. 1 with their first pre-season game on Sept. 10.
