Saskatchewan lived up to its name as the Land of the Living Skies on Tuesday evening after a series of powerful storms blew through the province damaging at least one farmyard.
Environment Canada confirmed a tornado touched down in a farmer’s field south east of Swift Current.
A video posted on Facebook showed a heavily damaged farmyard 30 kilometres south of Glenbain near Hodgeville.
The video shows damaged grain silos and two combines surrounded by piles of wood debris.
Heavy rain, hail and strong winds was felt in many other parts of the province.
“There was ping pong ball sized hail, which was near Major, close to Kindersley, we had golf ball sized hail in Moose Jaw and then the rest is really just nickel and dime sized hail,” said Moodie.
“There were lots of storms, individual storms throughout Saskatchewan.”
On Twitter, Saskatchewan storm chaser Jenny Hagan said traffic was brought to a stop on Highway 7 between Rosetown and Kindersley as whiper blades were not able to keep up with the intense rain and hail that layered roads and fields.

Was so great to get a backyard chase today. I can’t remember if I’ve ever seen a storm put down that much hail for that many KMS ever. Drove through almost 146km of hail covered hwy’s in west central #skstorm especially late August pic.twitter.com/1jPitt63AS

Another night of storm-like conditions could be a possibility for some parts of the province.
“We do have a risk of thunderstorms through eastern, east-central Saskatchewan for today,” Moodie said. “That will be for this afternoon and into the evening.
“There could be some funnel clouds today specifically in east-central Saskatchewan, but we’re not quite looking at the same setup as yesterday.”
