The Regina Humane Society is dealing with what it’s calling a “cat crisis.”
In a media release Wednesday, the organization said it’s “reaching its capacity” to care for cats at its facility on Armour Road. The humane society said nearly 1,200 cats and kittens were accepted into its care through the summer and now it needs the public’s help.
In hopes of getting cats and kittens adopted, the humane society is reducing adoption fees for kittens to $75 and the fees for adult and junior cats (four months of age and up) to $25 until Oct. 3. Adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, tattoo, microchip and post-adoption veterinary exam.
People who are interested in adopting animals from the humane society can view available pets and review the society’s adoption process here.
Anyone who wants to surrender a pet is asked to call the humane society’s receiving department at 306-543-6363 ext. 237 to make an appointment. People are being urged not to go to the shelter without an appointment.
