The Regina Pats have announced a trade that sent 2003-born forward Sloan Stanick to the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for 2003-born defenceman Adam McNutt.
McNutt has already appeared in four games this season with the Raiders, and is just beginning his second season in the league. In the 2020-21 season, the 18-year-old defenceman suited up for 22 games with Prince Albert while scoring one goal and adding three assists.
The 200-pound defenceman from Saskatoon got the chance to play with his hometown Midget team, the Saskatoon Contacts, prior to beginning his career with the Western Hockey League. McNutt produced plenty of offence with seven goals and 20 assists in his time with the Contacts.
“We are getting a right-shot defenceman who plays a physical game,” said Regina Pats general manager John Paddock. “We look forward to him joining our organization.”
Meanwhile, Stanick made a solid impression early on in his limited time with Regina. In just 5 games with the Pats, the Rapid City, Man. product has notched two goals and two assists. Ironically enough, Stanick happened to produce the majority of his offense against his new team in a career-high three-point night against the Raiders.
Stanick has played parts of three consecutive seasons with the Pats after being traded by the Everett Silvertips in 2019. The forward was selected by Everett in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft in the seventh round.
“We’d like to thank Sloan for his contributions to the Pats organization,” added Paddock. “We wish him nothing but the best in Prince Albert.”
