A date has been set for the reopening of the Canada-U.S. border.
On Nov. 8, vaccinated non-essential visitors will be able to cross the land borders into the United States for the first time since the boundaries were closed due to COVID-19.
Travellers will have to show proof of vaccination to border officials upon request.
On Tuesday, the American government announced it would reopen its borders with Canada and Mexico — news that was greeted with relief by people in towns on the border of Saskatchewan and North Dakota.
According to a report by The Canadian Press, details still are being finalized as to what will constitute acceptable proof of vaccination and if any exceptions will be allowed.
It’s also currently not clear if people who received doses of two different vaccines will be considered fully immunized.
