Many key COVID indicators continued to move in the right direction Sunday.
In its daily update, the province reported that the active case load had dropped below 3,000.
There were 236 new infections and 314 recoveries, lowering active cases to 2,963.
There was one new death reported, but there was also one removed.
Three people were also discharged from hospital, lowering the number of COVID patients to 285.
According to the Ministry of Health:
- As of October 24th, there are 236 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 76,311 reported cases
- The new cases are located in the Far North West (9), Far North East (7), North West (19), North Central (21), North East (3), Saskatoon (53), Central West (2), Central East (39), Regina (38), South West (2), South Central (6), and South East (30) zones and 7 new cases have pending residence information
- 6 cases with pending residence information were assigned to North West (from October 22 (1)), North Central (October 20 (1), October 22 (1)), Saskatoon (from October 22 (1)), Central East (from October 20 (1)), and Regina (from October 22 (1)) zones
- One (1) SK resident tested out-of-province was added to the Regina (October 21 (1)) zone
- 76,311 cases are confirmed
- 18,715 cases are from the North area (8,313 North West, 7,663 North Central, 2,739 North East)
- 18,389 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 14,994 cases are from the Regina area
- 9,261 cases are from the South area (2,068 South West, 2,796 South Central, 4,397 South East)
- 8,996 cases are from the Far North area (4,208 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,247 Far North East)
- 5,330 cases are from the Central area (1,377 Central West, 3,953 Central East)
- 626 cases have pending residence information
- 2,963 cases are considered active and 72,531 cases are considered recovered
- Almost one-third (32.2%) of new cases are in the age category of 11 and under
- More than one-quarter (26.3%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated
- As of October 24th, a total of 285 individuals are hospitalized, including 211 inpatient hospitalizations and 74 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 285 patients, 203 (71.2%) were not fully vaccinated. One (1) additional case was transferred to Ontario, for a total of eight (8) SK cases who have been transferred out-of-province. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in dashboard.
- One (1) new death and one (1) previously flagged death removed reported today. 817 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
- 1,211,067 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of October 21st, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,018,753 tests performed per million. The national rate of 1,197,106 tests performed per million population.
