Connor Bedard’s biggest statistical game of the young WHL season helped the Regina Pats sweep a home-and-home set with the Swift Current Broncos.
Entering Saturday’s tilt, Bedard’s highest single-game point total of the 2021-22 season was two, thanks to a pair of goals he scored against the Prince Albert Raiders on Oct. 1.
On Saturday, Bedard had two goals and an assist in Regina’s 7-3 victory over the Broncos at the Brandt Centre.
The 16-year-old centre increased his production on the season to six goals and 10 points in 11 games.
Logan Nijhoff also scored twice for the Pats (4-7-0-0), who got their other goals from Tanner Howe, Ryker Evans and Cole Dubinsky. Evans added two assists for Regina, which scored two short-handed goals and two on power plays.
Owen Pickering, Cole Nagy and Raphael Pelletier scored power-play goals for Swift Current (2-7-2-0), which lost 4-1 to the visiting Pats on Friday. The Broncos are winless in their past nine games after starting the season with back-to-back wins.
In Medicine Hat, Kyle Crnkovic had a pair of goals as the Saskatoon Blades downed the Tigers 4-2.
Egor Sidorov and Brendan Lee also scored for Saskatoon (8-2-1-0). Brayden Boehm and Oren Shtrom replied for Medicine Hat.
In Brandon, Keaton Sorensen scored twice as Prince Albert beat the Wheat Kings 3-1 to snap a three-game winless skid.
Landon Kosior also scored for the Raiders, who improved to 3-7-0-1. Brett Hyland had the lone goal for Brandon.
