A clever couple in Warman decided to have some fun with their decorations this Christmas season.
Auryn Kucheran loves to go all out with his decorations each year, setting up roughly 15,000 Christmas lights all over his home. The setup always draws a big crowd around the holiday season as everyone wants to check out the unique array of lights.
“In the last couple years, everybody kind of needed a smile, so we decided to throw some more lights on the house,” Kucheran said on Gormley.
But as the saying goes, “If you can’t beat them, join them.” That’s exactly what next-door neighbours Chris Boechler and his partner, Mandie Scrivens, did.
The only Christmas lights needed to get the point across is a sign that says “Ditto,” with an arrow pointing over to the house next door with thousands of lightbulbs shining bright.
It has gone over tremendously well for Kucheran and his family, as he says that his neighbour’s sense of humour makes this even more special.
“Chris and Mandie are the best,” Kucheran said. “You couldn’t ask for better neighbours and this year with the ‘Ditto’ sign, they just took it over the top.”
Traffic flow has ramped up heavily this year as everyone wants to get a glimpse of the two households.
“It’s pretty busy. (There’s) just a steady flow of cars. It has picked up constantly. Every night, it’s getting more and more traffic,” Kucheran said.
Kucheran says he takes pride in being able to bring everyone within the area together and give them something to be happy about.
“My kids Max and Ben sure love helping out and they like the lights. There’s kids who come by every night in the neighbourhood just to check it out,” Kucheran said.
