The Prince Albert Raiders spoiled the Blades party on Saturday night with a 4-1 win to split the pair of weekend games.
After two scoreless periods, the scoring finally came in waves in the third. Landon Kosier gave the Raiders the early 1-0 lead just under four minutes into the final frame.
Just two minutes later, Misha Volotovskii sent the SaskTel Centre into a stuffie frenzy with an excellent snipe to give the Blades the first tally of the game.
With 4,004 fans in attendance, it didn’t take long for the ice surface to be covered in teddy bears.
However, Prince Albert didn’t waste much time following the showering of stuffed animals. The Raiders found the lead on a Tayem Gislason’s shot with 7:44 to play.
In the dying minutes, the Blades thought they found the tying goal with the net empty, but after review, it was determined no goal.
The Raiders added two empty-net goals for good measure for a 4-1 win over the Blades to even the weekend series with their rivals.
Saskatoon got the best of Prince Albert on Friday night in a 3-2 victory.
After playing four games in five days, the Blades will enjoy their Christmas break and return on Dec. 27 for another date with the Raiders in Prince Albert.
The next home game for the Blades comes on Dec. 28 with a clash against the Red Deer Rebels.
