The activities of three WHL teams — including the Moose Jaw Warriors — have been paused by the league due to COVID-19.
In a media release Tuesday, the league announced the Warriors, Edmonton Oil Kings and Red Deer Rebels were being shut down “as a result of multiple players and staff being added to the WHL COVID-19 Protocol List due to exhibiting symptoms or having tested positive for COVID-19.”
Those teams follow the Swift Current Broncos into the COVID protocol.
The Warriors, Oil Kings and Rebels have cancelled on-ice practices and off-ice training. As well, five regular-season games have been postponed.
Cancellations on Friday include a game between Moose Jaw and the host Lethbridge Hurricanes and a contest pitting Edmonton against the host Rebels. On Saturday, the Warriors will no longer visit Medicine Hat and Lethbridge won’t travel to Red Deer. On Sunday, the contest between Edmonton and the Tigers in Medicine Hat won’t be played.
