The number of people with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan hospitals rose again Monday.
The Ministry of Health’s update said there were 1,412 new cases, continuing the recent trend of more than 1,000 cases a day for much of the last two weeks.
Hospitalizations due to COVID rose to 167, up five from Sunday. Of those, 154 people are receiving inpatient care and 13 are in intensive care units.
Of the inpatient hospitalization population, 67 are COVID-19 related illnesses, 52 are incidental and 35 have not yet been determined. Of the 13 ICU admissions, eight are for COVID illnesses and five are for people who had other ailments and tested positive for COVID afterward.
Active cases increased to 11,642 after breaking the 11,000 active case barrier on Sunday.
For the 11th consecutive day, no new COVID-related deaths were reported. The last death was reported on Jan. 6.
A look at the numbers
The new cases are located in the: Saskatoon(452), Regina (268), north-central (122), central-east (67), southeast (51), northeast (51), central-west (45) south-central (37), southwest (33), northwest (33), far northeast (16) and far northwest (11) zones.
One hundred sixty-one cases are without hometown information and another 17 Saskatchewan residents who were tested outside the province have been added to the case totals.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers is 1,208, or 100.3 new cases per 100,000 people.
Of the 101,537 reported cases in Saskatchewan, 88,934 cases are considered recovered.
Of the 167 patients in hospital, 57, or 34 per cent, were not fully vaccinated.
