The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another quarterback to the mix.
The CFL team announced Tuesday it had signed Jake Dolegala, who had NFL stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins.
The 6-foot-7, 242-pounder played college football at Central Connecticut State University, where he completed 654 passes for 8,129 yards with 48 touchdowns and 24 interceptions over 44 games. He also rushed for 452 yards and 18 TDs.
Dolegala left the school as its all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns and was just the fifth quarterback in Northeastern Conference history to throw for more than 8,000 yards in his career.
He joins Cody Fajardo, Mason Fine and Paxton Lynch on the Roughriders’ roster.
Lynch was sent home before the end of the 2021 season because he was unvaccinated against COVID-19 and thus wasn’t able to fly due to COVID-related travel restrictions in Canada. As of Tuesday, Lynch was still on the Roughriders’ suspended list.
