The Swift Current man injured in a police shooting Thursday has been charged.
Swift Current Municipal RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in a Swift Current apartment. Their response involved a weapon being fired.
A 23-year-old man was injured with reportedly non-life threatening wounds. He was given first aid assistance and taken to hospital.
After continued investigation by RCMP alongside Saskatchewan Crown Prosecution, the man who was injured has been charged with several offences. They include: two counts of assault with a weapon, assault of a police officer, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, three counts of failure to comply with a release order and three counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
The man will appear in Swift Current Provincial Court at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
RCMP said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting is ongoing and being conducted by the Saskatoon Police Service. They said no further information can be provided at this time.
