A Regina Pats game slated for Thursday that could have had significant playoff implications has been postponed.
The Pats were scheduled to visit the Winnipeg Ice, but the WHL announced Tuesday afternoon that the contest had been postponed because of the storm poised to hit southeastern Saskatchewan and much of Manitoba over the next three days.
It’s unknown when the game will be played. The teams also are scheduled to play in Winnipeg on Friday.
Regina has a 26-34-5 record and 57 points, two fewer than the Swift Current Broncos (26-34-7) in the race for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Calgary Hitmen (25-33-8) sit one point ahead of the Pats.
The Ice has a league-best 51-10-5 record.
The Pats’ final regular-season game is scheduled for Sunday against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors (36-23-6).
Swift Current has one game left on its regular-season slate (Friday against the visiting Prince Albert Raiders). Calgary has games left against the Red Deer Rebels (Wednesday) and Lethbridge Hurricanes (Sunday).
Prince Albert (26-35-5) also remains alive in the race. After facing Swift Current on Friday, the Raiders are to play host to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday.
