The Co-op Refinery Complex is alerting residents that it’s annual turnaround begins on Monday.
The complex will invest $100 million for at least the next 40 days as a part of the refinery is taken down for repairs, maintenance and upgrades.
“Our annual turnaround is one of the most important economic events in our community,” Gil Le Dressay, vice-president of manufacturing, said in a news release.
“We invest significant financial resources in our facility during turnaround. This year’s project also creates about 1,200 additional temporary jobs through the duration of the project. Our turnarounds are an investment in our future, ensuring the safety and reliability of our operations, as we continue to further our role as an economic engine for our local community, the province of Saskatchewan, and all of Western Canada,” he explained.
While it does create a number of jobs, it will also lead to an increased amount of traffic in the area. The Co-op Refinery Complex said that peak traffic areas are between 5 and 7:30 a.m. as well as between 4 and 7:30 p.m.
The turnaround is scheduled to run until early June.
