Four months after two women were murdered in North Battleford, the RCMP has released a video showing a person who may have information about the unsolved case.
Alyssa LeCaine, 25, and 20-year-old Daphne Bear were found dead after a house fire on 108th Street on Dec. 24. Six days later, police said the woman had been murdered.
On Tuesday, North Battleford RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes put out a video showing a person running in an alley between 108th and 109th streets on Christmas Eve around the time of the fire.
“With the increased quality and prevalence of privately or business-owned video surveillance systems comes the opportunity to potentially utilize captured video to assist serious police investigations,” Supt. Joshua Graham, the head of Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, said in a release.
“In the video investigators released today to assist the ongoing investigation in North Battleford, viewers can note trim around the hood of the jacket and distinctive brown or yellow-coloured boots. We are hoping these two notable features will help us identify the individual in the video.”
The RCMP said investigators want to speak with the person in the video as they may have information about the women’s deaths.
Anyone who can identify or has information about the person in the video is asked to call North Battleford RCMP at 306-446-1720 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
As well, the Mounties asked anyone who has surveillance cameras in the area to check the footage to see if they recorded the individual between 3 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
