Students at Ecole Monseigneur de Laval in Regina are expected back in class next week now that crews have cleaned up the school following a water main break earlier this week.
On Friday, a school spokesperson said the floors of the south-end school have been cleaned since the last of the water was pumped out Wednesday night.
Early Wednesday, the school took to social media to describe the impact of the water main break, saying staff found the “elementary pavilion in shambles” when they arrived Wednesday morning.
“An overnight water break resulted in flooding our basement entirely as well as most of the school floors, gyms, hallways and sadly the Bistro area which sadly looked like a pool at 8 a.m. this morning,” the post said.
“Despite the initial shock of seeing this much water on such a large surface, the team immediately mobilized to alert the various services that have to intervene in this situation.”
Students moved to online learning while the cleanup operation was underway.
In a second post Wednesday night, the school said the floors were dried by 10 p.m., thanks to the work of 12 pump trucks, six other pumps and staff members.
