The Moose Jaw Warriors are coming home in a deep hole.
The Warriors lost 7-0 to the host Winnipeg Ice on Saturday in Game 2 of a best-of-seven WHL Eastern Conference semifinal. Moose Jaw trails the series 2-0, having been outscored 13-1 in the first two games in Winnipeg.
The Warriors are to play host to the Ice in Game 3 on Tuesday, with Game 4 set for Mosaic Place on Wednesday.
Jack Finley scored two goals Saturday for Winnipeg, which got its other goals from Connor McClennon, Matthew Savoie, Mikey Milne, Zachary Benson and Chase Wheatcroft. Benson also had three assists.
Special teams were a factor in the contest, with the Ice scoring two goals on power plays and two while shorthanded.
Daniel Hauser stopped 27 shots for the shutout.
Carl Tetachuk started in net for the Warriors and gave up five goals on 21 shots before being replaced by Jackson Unger early in the second period. Unger allowed two goals on 13 shots the rest of the way.
Winnipeg was the top team in the WHL regular season, accumulating 111 points — 30 more than the Warriors.
